Feb. 3: Lake Manyara National Park, Tanzania

Superb Starling - even more beautiful when
it flies away from you !

The ever popular Warthog.

One of our pop top vehicles with a
view of Tarangire Hill in the background.

Baby Elephants who can walk under their
mothers, as this one is doing, are judged to be
about one month old.

In the center of the picture, perched on
a slanted rock is a Klipspringer, one of
Africa's smallest antelopes.

Blue Monkey.  Not as cute as a Vervet Black-faced
Monkey, but cuter than a Baboon.
Candelabra Tree
Impala

Lions typically do not sleep in trees, but we saw
several.  This young lion's position is pretty crazy.

Lake Manyara Serena Lodge was a favorite.
Each round building had two rooms upstairs,
and two rooms at ground level.

  1. Looking good next to that Candelabra tree. . . like an official guide. I've been snowed in at Robin's house in Baltimore. Just returned to rainy Bay Area. Yay for the rain! Keep posting those fab photos. What an incredible experience. Any sign of the Lilac-breasted Roller yet?
