Feb. 17: Kenya: Larsen's Tent Camp; Samburu and Buffalo Springs Game Reserves

Doum Palms

Cute tail.

White-headed Buffalo Weaver

Black-capped Social Weavers

Eastern Chanting Goshawk

African Orange-bellied Parrot

If we hadn't seen him walk up into a rocky
hillside and flop down, we probably wouldn't
have found him.

Gerenuk's have leg joints that allow them
to browse fully stretched upright.

Another elegant Beisa Oryx.

Grevy's Zebra.  The thinner stripes provide
camouflage for Grevys.

Sparring ("necking") can get violent.  Males slam
their heads against each other.  Height and
weight have an advantage.

Mr. & Mrs. Secretary (Bird)

Very small, medium small and very large.

The large elephant (likely the clan matriarch)
wears a radio tracking collar as part of a
research project.

Somali Fiscal (Shrike)

Hadada Ibis

Klipspringer in their favorite rocky habitat, just out
of clean, crisp photo range...again.

 Three Somali Dwarf Mongoose, atop
their converted Termite Mound home.
