Feb. 8 - 10: Tanzania: Ndutu and Serengeti!

We found a Lilac Breaster Roller who posed
for us for quite a while and Tom took
these gorgeous pictures.

Scarlet-chested Sunbird. There are many varieties of
Sunbird in Africa who love nectar-giving flowers, like
this Aloe plant. About the size of a hummingbird,
with a noticeably thin, curved-down bill.

Variable Sunbird.  This picture doesn't do it
justice.  The head is a flash of brilliant emerald green.

Tom at Ndutu.  No fences, so they post a sign warning
visitors not to stray too far from the lodge. Security guards
watch over the bungelows at night.  Zebra, elephant, dik dik
and wildebeest walk by.  Lion and spotted hyena are
heard at night, and the genets crawl around the trees.

A rare moment to sit and look through a
field guide!
